Premarin is a Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). It contains a conjugation of the female hormone estrogen and is used to treat some of the symptoms and conditions associated with menopause, including osteoporosis.
After taking premarin every day for a few weeks, menopausal symptoms will subside. You can experience breakthrough bleeding or spotting while your body gets used to Premarin. If this persists after more than a few months of treatment, speak with your general practitioner. As your body adapts to the menopause, HRT should only be required as a brief treatment. You should get frequent gynecological examinations and evaluate your HRT with your GP at least once a year.

Menopause Symptoms Relief:
Premarin tablets are prescribed to treat and relieve symptoms caused by the menopause.
Osteoporosis Prevention:
Premarin tablets may be used as a second-line treatment to help prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
Hormone Replacement and Cancer Treatment:
Premarin tablets may be prescribed to:
- Pre-menopausal women with insufficient oestrogen production
- Men and women to treat symptoms of certain cancers
Directions
- Take Premarin at the same time every day, as directed on the packaging.
- Swallow the tablet whole with a sip of water.
- You can take Premarin with or without food.
Precaution
Avoid drinking grapefruit juice as it may impact the effectiveness of Premarin
